Hello, and welcome. I’m Kevin S. Pirnie, and Discover the Word is the ministry God has graciously entrusted to me. I say “entrusted” deliberately, because nothing about this journey has been my own doing—every step has been His faithfulness at work through a willing, and often imperfect, servant.

A Simple Calling

For as long as I can remember, my heart’s desire has been simple: to make the depths of God’s Word accessible to believers at every stage of their spiritual journey. As a pastor, author, and Bible teacher, I’ve spent years learning how to take complex theological concepts and translate them into practical, everyday guidance.

If my Bible studies have been described as breathing fresh perspective into familiar passages, I can only say that any freshness comes from the Word itself—my job is simply to get out of the way and let Scripture speak to today’s challenges as powerfully as it always has.

Ministry in a Digital Age

Much of my work now lives in the digital realm. Here at discovertheword.net, a growing community gathers for biblical resources and spiritual encouragement, and it has been one of my great joys to use my technical background to help fellow ministry leaders expand their own digital outreach.

Before devoting myself fully to ministry, I owned and operated a business, and I’ve found that the leadership and organizational lessons from those years continue to serve the Kingdom in unexpected ways. I’m also a guitarist, and music remains one more channel through which I express my devotion to the Lord.

Writing for Every Believer

I’m currently writing accessible commentaries on each book of the Bible—a project born from a simple observation: too many believers give up on traditional commentaries because they’re written in academic language. My aim is clarity without sacrificing depth, so that readers from every background can understand and apply God’s Word.

Family holds a special place in my heart. When I look at mine, I see something put together by the hand of God—a daily reminder that His providence guides every detail of our lives.

Walking by Faith, Not by Sight

In recent years, I’ve walked through what has been perhaps my most profound personal challenge: the loss of most of my eyesight. I won’t pretend it has been easy. But rather than limiting my ministry, this trial has deepened my spiritual perception and my reliance on God’s strength. Paul’s words above are no longer just a verse I teach—they are my lived reality. In many ways, I see spiritual truths more clearly now than I ever did before.

Through teaching, writing, and a journey that has taught me far more about grace than about myself, I continue pursuing my calling: helping God’s Word come alive for believers seeking deeper faith and understanding. Whatever fruit this ministry bears is a testament not to me, but to how powerfully God works through willing hearts—especially amid life’s greatest challenges.
